New Year, New Mems

The new year is officially underway, and KORBEL is here to help you make the best of it. 2023 will be the year of making and holding on to memories.

We have become increasingly better about capturing memories with the help of cellphone cameras, but don’t let the dreaded “out of storage” message ruin your day and delete photos. This year, print out pictures at home or a local photo center and create a scrapbook to look back on throughout the year and for many more to come.

Each month, host friends and family for a scrapbooking night to add images, movie theater ticket stubs, concert tickets and any mementos into a book you can proudly display and share with others. Stock up on colored and printed paper, stickers and markers to personalize your scrapbook and make notes about why a moment was significant for you.

Not only is this a great way to spend time in person with loved ones, but it’s a great reason to reflect on the past month and even make goals for the upcoming ones. Create a hosting rotation, so each friend can have the group over for a night. Don’t forget to take a photo at each scrapbooking party to add to your month’s memories!

Of course, a girl’s night of reminiscing wouldn’t be complete without snacks and KORBEL California Champagne, so break out the baking tray and mini bottles for sipping. To complement the crispness of KORBEL, whip up salty snacks that will leave friends wanting more.

  • Directions
    • Combine olives, anchovy paste, capers, parsley, garlic, lemon juice and ¼ teaspoon pepper in a food processer and pulse two to three times or until coarsely chopped.
    • Drizzle in olive oil and pulse a few more times until mixture is a chunky paste. Scrape down the sides as needed. Season to taste with salt and pepper and serve at room temperature.

Cheese Puffs

  • Ingredients
    • ½ cup of water
    • 4 tablespoons of butter
    • ½ teaspoon of Kosher salt
    • 1 teaspoon of freshly ground white pepper
    • ½ cup of all-purpose flour
    • 2 large eggs
    • ½ cup of freshly grated gruyère, plus more for topping
  • Directions
    • Preheat oven to 400 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper
    • Combine water, butter, salt, sugar and white pepper in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Add in flour and stir with a wooden spoon until a smooth dough forms. Continue cooking until dough pulls away from the edge of the pan and forms a ball, about two minutes.
    • Move dough into a mixing bowl and continue stirring with a wooden spoon for about one minute or until the dough slightly cools. Beat in eggs, one at a time, until smooth and filly incorporated. Then, fold in gruyère.
    • Put batter into a piping bag and create one inch size mounds about an inch apart on the lined baking sheet. Top with extra gruyère and baked for 20 to 25 minutes or until puffed and golden.
    • Serve and enjoy!
